Salon Success Academies is committed to supporting various charitable causes throughout the year. The charitable work we do is much more than a feel-good pastime for us; it's built into the educational curriculum and a part of our school culture. At Salon Success Academies, we're not just training individuals to become professionals in the beauty industry, we're teaching our students how to be good citizens and the importance of giving back. That's why Salon Success Academies is known as a “people helping company”.

Relay for Life

Salon Success Academy students at Relay for Life in May 2012

Salon Success Academy first organized a team for the Relay for Life in Rancho Cucamonga in 2010. Cosmetology student Ambassador Heather Harris helped start the team in honor of her cousin, Jeff, who had been diagnosed with colon cancer. It's a tradition the school has continued every year since, raising over $10,000 for the American Cancer Society since they first began. The team consists of students and staff members who have all had loved ones suffering from cancer. They hold fundraisers and events for months leading up to the day-long event to raise as much money as possible. All of the money raised at the Relay for Life is used to fund research to find a cure for cancer and supply treatment for cancer patients.

Operation Safehouse

In 2012, the Student Ambassadors organized a holiday party, where they showered the troubled teens with gifts, haircuts, and manicures.

Each month a group of Student Ambassadors volunteer at the Operation Safehouse, a shelter for homeless and runaway teens in Riverside, California. The Student Ambassadors visit the shelter to volunteer their services and spend quality time with the teens. In 2012, the Student Ambassadors wanted to do something extra special for the teens during the holiday season. They organized a holiday party, where they showered the troubled teens with gifts, haircuts, and manicures. The director of Operation Safehouse said that the time the Student Ambassadors spend at the shelter helps the teens know that people care about them.

House of Ruth

In 2010, Iman Wahid, an esthetician student at Salon Success Academy, was killed by her husband in a brutal act of domestic violence. Every year, Salon Success Academy holds a fundraiser at the Upland campus location and donates all of the revenue made on the salon floor that day to the House of Ruth in Iman's name. The House of Ruth is a non-profit organization that provides shelter, counseling, and services to women and children victimized by domestic violence. The students and staff at Salon Success Academy have raised over $5,000 for the House of Ruth since they first started.

Holiday Fundraiser

In 2011, Student Ambassadors made 25 holiday food baskets and donated toys to the Family Services Association of Redlands

Every holiday season, it is a Salon Success Academies tradition to help needy families in the local community. In 2011, the students and staff from all five Salon Success campuses earned $5,000 to help needy families. With that money, the Student Ambassadors made 25 holiday food baskets and donated toys to the Family Services Association of Redlands. In previous years, Salon Success Academies hosted an “All About Family” event at the school where the students gave free beauty services, gifts, and food to the families from the Foothill Family Shelter.
