Salon Success Academies, a beauty school in the Inland Empire area of California, is kicking off a year-long celebration to commemorate their
50th anniversary.
Upland, CA (PRWEB) February 10, 2010 – Founded in February of 1960, Salon Success Academies has been helping Inland Empire students become beauty
industry professionals for fifty years. To commemorate this anniversary, the school is kicking off a year-long celebration for students, salon
clients, and staff, starting with a makeover contest for current students.
The "Groovy 60s Makeover Contest" gives students a chance to re-create the hair and makeup styles that were popular when Salon Success Academies
first opened its doors in 1960. After giving themselves or someone else a 60s themed makeover, students' photos will be entered into judging for
a grand prize. The photos will also be voted on by the general public, and a People's Choice award will be given to the photo with the highest
number of votes.
The celebration will continue in the student salons at all five Salon Success Academies campuses. The salons will be offering special 1960s priced
services on the last Saturday of the month. The proceeds from these discounted services will be donated to local charities in the Inland Empire area.
In addition, Salon Success Academies will be holding monthly drawings for "Day of Beauty" gift certificates for salon patrons. All of these services
are available to the public and are performed by current students, under instructor supervision. During these monthly promotions, the salon floor
will be taken back in time, with students dressed in retro styles.
"We want this to be a fun promotion for our clients and for our students. So don't be surprised if you see your hair stylist dressed in bell bottoms
and bright colors!" said Susan Turner, Vice President of Salon Success Academies. Susan is working to organize the year-long celebration. "We've got
a lot of great things in the works, and are excited to be celebrating such a big milestone."
Salon Success Academies is a family business, originally owned and operated by Richard Gross. Founded as Richard's Beauty School, it began with
one campus in San Bernadino, eventually moving to the Ontario area. In 1991, Robert Gross, the son of the original owner, took over as owner and
president of the school. Salon Success Academies now includes five campuses across the Inland Empire area of California and offers programs in
cosmetology and esthetics.
"My father founded his school on the philosophy of providing students with a school that is more like a family, and he worked hard to give
students every opportunity to complete their studies in an affordable way," said Robert Gross. "I am proud to continue that tradition today,
and work hard to welcome more students into the Salon Success Academies family."
